Wave Theory Wavetable MIDI Sequencer Plugin by BangZilla
BangZilla has partnered with UK developer Boxed Ear to release Wave Theory, an innovative MIDI sequencer plugin that transforms wavetable cycles into evolving musical melodies. Available for VST3, AU, and AAX hosts, the software can be evaluated risk-free via a 14-day trial on the BangZilla website. Producers searching for a versatile free MIDI sequencer plugin test in 2026 will find full feature access during the evaluation period.
How Wave Theory Generates Melodies
Instead of relying on conventional step grids, Wave Theory uses a tempo-synced oscillator scanning through wavetable files. The height and contour of each waveform directly determine pitch values, which are instantly quantized to your chosen key and scale. You can load any of the 100+ included factory tables or drag and drop custom wavetables in standard Serum or Vital WAV formats.
Deep Sequencing and Performance Control
The interface consolidates all sequencing controls onto a single page to maintain an immediate creative flow without nested menus. Four parallel sequencers operate simultaneously, allowing you to set independent loop lengths and playback speeds for gates, pitch scanning, connection styles, and pattern variations. Additional features include:
- Custom root note, scale, octave range, and external MIDI pitch locking
- Built-in memory banks to store and switch sequence variations in real time
- Performance triggers compatible with any hardware MIDI keyboard or pad controller
- Seamless MIDI routing to external hardware synths or internal software instruments
